Adding GPS functionality with the Android phone you already own is a snap with Open Location.

Open Location links your Android phone and a microcontroller via Bluetooth. Simply enter the coordinate information into Open Location and when you get close to that point a message is sent to your microcontroller via a serial connection over Bluetooth. It will send an 'A' (ASCII 65) if not near the location and an 'B' (ASCII 66) if you are within range.

Here is why you may want to use Open Location: A lot of people are getting into "reverse geocaching" where you give a locked cache to a friend and they have to go to a specific location for the box to "magically" open.
